McMahon – In and Out

Last updated : 26 May 2004 By Tony Scholes

McMahon was initially thought to be well out of the running to replace Stan Ternent but he ensured his name was always at the forefront. However, that changed last week when he met with representatives of the Clarets for preliminary discussions.

Some were even making him a favourite at the time but since then has had no contact with the club and is beginning to think that he might have to look elsewhere to get himself back into football.

We are probably around a week away from knowing and so many names have been thrown into the equation it makes it very difficult to determine just who might be the leading candidates although it now looks as though the club have spoken to eight or nine potential new managers.

McMahon must still be in with a chance and alongside that Brian Flynn’s name is back in the frame after it was first thought that he might have been approached regarding working with the youngsters.

I’ve been asked many times who I think it might be and to be honest I really don’t know, but if I was a betting man then probably my money would be going on either Ronnie Moore or Steve Cotterill.
