McGregor is by the seaside

He was with the Clarets for three years but could never consider himself a regular in the side. Brought in to play at right back he played only one league game in his first season but in the last two seasons has played in the centre of defence.

Often the scapegoat he was a player who supporters thought should have played more often but there were times when Graham Branch was preferred in the centre of defence which surely meant the writing was on the wall as far as his Burnley future was concerned.

He was one of the players left out of contract at the end of the season and he has been looking for a club every since although he did turn down an opportunity to sign for Kilmarnock.

Now he has been given an opportunity to try and earn himself a contract with League One club Blackpool and will be going with them on their pre-season tour to Northern Ireland.

Blackpool play three games there against Ballymena United (15th), Dungannon Swifts (17th) and Newry Town (20th). McGregor will be hoping to play in as many of these games as possible as he tries to impress Colin Hendry enough to earn himself a contract.
