McGregor could be back in a month

The defender picked up a knee injury early in pre-season training that was described at the time as a tweak that would keep him out for a couple of weeks. Even before this news there were suggestions that the injury was in fact more serious following some discussions at the cricket match between the Clarets and Burnley Cricket Club.

There was no further bulletin but it was clear that Macca was still injured given that he hasn’t featured in any games at all and today it was revealed that he in fact had an operation on his knee yesterday.

Stan Ternent revealed that he will be out for at least another month and told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, "Mark had an operation on Tuesday to have his knee cleared out, and I hope he will be back in a month or so."

Until last week he was the only cover for Branch and Arthur in the centre of defence but that has now been relieved with the signing of David May.

McGregor remains one of four players on the injured list along with Gareth Taylor, Joel Pilkington and Earl Davis.
