McGregor back for the reserves

Mark McGregor - on his way back from injury
But the match does signal a return to action for Mark McGregor who has been out with a knee injury since almost the beginning of pre-season training, an injury that ultimately required surgery.

He’s been back in training for over a week now and is ready for his first game and lines up in an otherwise inexperienced team with Matt O’Neill the only other player with any first team experience.

The Clarets line up: Michael Hale, Danny Pitham, Mark McGregor, Ryan Townsend, Gary Carter, Marc Pugh, Darrel Avery, Joel Pilkington, Tom Ince, Rhys Carpenter, Matt O’Neill. Subs: Ross Preston, Curtis Aspen, Alex Taylor, James Heywood.

As is always the case the opposition will be more experienced and none more so than a player who has also featured in our reserve team this season Nicky Summerbee. The day after he played for us at Barnsley he was offered a deal but turned it down and signed for Bradford City and was in the side that we hammered 4-0 on the Turf.

But he now finds himself in the reserves alongside Australians Clint Davies and Paul Reid along with Luke Cornwall who was signed from Fulham.

The Bradford City team is: Clint Davies, Paul Reid, Jake Wright, Frazer McCugh, Daniel Ellis, Craig Bentham, Nicky Summerbee, Tom Penford, Kevin Sanasy, Luke Cornwall, Liam Flynn. Subs: Michael Standing, Sam Denton, Luke Richardson, Patrick Bannister, Daniel Ekoku.
