Chris McCann - his goal against Oldham wins the August Goal of the Month
The Clarets scored after six minutes in the opening day of the season game against Sheffield Wednesday, and Paterson was the scorer heading in a cross from Wade Elliott. In almost four league games since we've failed to find the net again.

However, we have scored five times in two Carling Cup ties against Bury and Oldham with Paterson scoring four of them. The other, our first in the 3-0 win against Oldham, was scored by Chris McCann.

Chris Eagles played a superb ball out wide to Elliott and his cross was met by McCann. It wasn't an easy header but he got it right into the corner giving the keeper no chance. It was a good goal, and one deserving of goal of the month, even though it is unfortunate for Pato who I can confirm has finished second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth in the poll.

But McCann claimed 56.4% of the vote to become the first goal of the month winner of the 2008/09 season. Paterson's second against Oldham took second place with 15.0% of the vote whilst our solitary league goal at Hillsborough took 13.2% to claim third place.
