McCann and Eagles wanted

Newcastle are believed to be keen on taking McCann whilst the league's bottom club West Brom would like to sign Chris Eagles.

Burnley would certainly be reluctant to sell either, particularly given the club's current position in the league and our involvement in the semi-finals of the Carling Cup, but with Owen Coyle still thought to be keen on West Brom's Craig Beattie, currently out on loan at Crystal Palace, a deal could be possible for Eagles.

The pair though are two vital members of Coyle's squad. He spent a sizeable chunk of the Lafferty money to get Eagles to Turf Moor and has on a number of occasions spoken of how impressed he is with the former Manchester United player.

And as for McCann, almost from the day the manager walked through the Turf Moor doors he's been fulsome in his praise for McCann.

January though could be a testing time for the Clarets
