Maylett heads for Wales

Stan loaned out Earl Davis to his former Bury colleague Mike Walsh a week ago and today he has done a similar favour for former Claret Brian Flynn by letting him take Maylett on loan.

Apparently Flynny tried to sign Maylett five months ago but his plans were scuppered when the winger suffered an achilles injury in a reserve team game.

But he has got his man today and he will make his debut in the big relegation battle against Carlisle United tomorrow.

It is almost two years since Maylett started a league game for Burnley, that was at Sheffield United in the last away game of the season when our play off hopes came to an end. That was his second start although he has now made a total of 43 league appearances with a further 41 from the bench.

Flynny was delighted to get his man and said today, "He’s very pacy and very direct and I feel that he can offer us something that hasn’t been available to us until now. He is a right sided player but he is also capable of playing on the left, and he is looking forward to pitching into our fight.

"Initially it is for a month but that can be extended if we feel it is in everyone’s interests."

Its is unlikely that he will team up tomorrow with another former Burnley player in Lenny Johnrose, the midfielder is currently out injured and hasn’t featured for over a month.
