May set for debut

David May will make his Burnley debut
The new addition to the squad will allow Stan to name a full quota of five substitutes for the first time this season but he will have no choice with none of the other players ready to come back.

Ian Moore will be missing as he completes his three match suspension and he will be a welcome return to the squad next week when we play Wigan. Mark McGregor is still out with his tweaked knee which is taking longer to clear than was first thought whilst young pro Joel Pilkington also remains on the injured list.

May will almost certainly come in for Arthur Gnohere who will then become a sub and Tony Grant is expected to keep his place in the starting line up with Richard Chaplow, as he was at Chesterfield, on the bench.

For one Burnley player it is an early return, Brian Jensen was a West Brom player until the end of last season and the keeper affectionately known as ‘The Beast’ by the Baggies fans is expected to get a great welcome from them, certainly much better than the welcome they gave Paul Crichton three years ago.

Burnley are expected to line up:

Brian Jensen, Lee Roche, David May, Graham Branch, Mo Camara, Luke Chadwick, Paul Weller, Tony Grant, Glen Little, Robbie Blake, Alan Moore. Subs: Dean West, Paul Scott, Arthur Gnohere, Richard Chaplow, Matt O’Neill.

There aren’t too many injury problems for Gary Megson although Larus Sigurdsson is rated doubtful after coming off after injuring his back at Walsall last Saturday. His replacement is expected to be Artim Sakiri who played in the Carling Cup win against Brentford.

Apart from Sigurdsson the only other players currently unavailable are central defender Darren Moore and former Preston midfielder Michael Appleton who both have long term injuries.

West Brom’s team should be:

Russell Hoult, Sean Gregan, Artim Sakiri, Joost Volmer, Bernt Haas, James O’Connor, Andy Johnson, Jason Koumas, Neil Clement, Danny Dichio, Rob Hulse. Subs not used: Joe Murphy, Phil Gilchrist, Ronnie Wallwork, Scott Dobie, Lee Hughes.
