Mathieson gets cup tie

Last updated : 26 December 2007 By Tony Scholes

Mathieson is no stranger to the Turf and refereed two of our home league games last season, the 2-2 home draw against Coventry and later the 1-1 draw against Brighton. He had reasonably quiet games on both occasions, providing us with little to worry about.

Mathieson was referee the last time the two sides met, back in 1998 at Brunton Park. On a day when Marlon Beresford made his farewell with a last minute clanger that cost us a point, he booked both Chris Brass and Mark Ford.

To date this season he has taken charge of two games and issued a total of five yellow cards in those two games. On the opening day of the season he carded one player each in Blackpool's 3-1 home defeat against Chesterfield and a week later, as Mansfield beat Torquay 3-0 he yellow carded three Torquay players.

He ended last season with 78 yellow cards of which 34 went to home team players and 44 to away team players.

The assistant referees for tonight's game are Kevin Mattocks (Lancashire) and Andy Nicholson (Yorkshire) and the fourth official is Richard Holdsworth (Yorkshire).
