Martinez was one of the names in the frame for the Celtic job but when the Wigan position was vacated by Bruce he showed an immediate interest in returning to where he made his name in England as one of the 'Three Amigos'.

A compensation package was agreed between the two clubs last week but the move was held up whilst compensation was negotiated for members of Martinez' backroom team to join him, including former Claret Kevin Reeves. That's all now been sorted and this evening Wigan have finally unveiled their new man on a three year contract.

That completes the set of Premier League managers for the new season, assuming Paul Hart remains in charge at Portsmouth, with fifteen of them British and of those eight of them from England.

The run down is:

England 8: Sam Allardyce (Blackburn), Gary Megson (Bolton), Roy Hodgson (Fulham), Phil Brown (Hull), Paul Hart (Portsmouth), Steve Bruce (Sunderland), Harry Redknapp (Tottenham), Mick McCarthy (Wolves)

Scotland 4: Alex McLeish (Birmingham), Owen Coyle (Burnley), David Moyes (Everton), Alex Ferguson (Manchester United)

Italy 2: Carlo Ancelotti (Chelsea), Gianfranco Zola (West Ham)

Spain 2: Rafa Benitez (Liverpool), Roberto Martinez (Wigan)

Wales 2: Mark Hughes (Manchester City), Tony Pulis (Stoke)

France 1: Arsene Wenger (Arsenal)

N Ireland 1: Martin O'Neill (Aston Villa)
