Marney was in excellent form as was his midfield partner David Jones. it was Marney who got the vote at the ground and it is Marney who has deservedly won both the man of the match vote and the player ratings on Clarets Mad.
He polled 32.6% of the vote to win the man of the match for the fifth time this season, a total beaten only by our two strikers Sam Vokes (9) and Danny Ings (7) and midfielder Scott Arfield (7).
It was Ings, who again hit the woodwork and saw his shot blocked that led to Michael Kightly's goal, in second place. He won 14.8% of the vote with Jason Shackell in third place with 11.9% and Jones securing fourth place having won 8.6% of the vote.
The same four players took the top four places in the player ratings. Again Marney was the winner. His rating was 7.86 out of 10. Jones came in second with a rating of 7.74 and just below with a rating of 7.61 out of 10 were both Ings and Shackell who shared third place.
Marney, therefore, has added ten points to his Clarets Mad Player of the Year total with Ings getting five points and both Jones and Shackell scoring four points.
The Clarets Mad Player of the Year will, therefore, not be decided until after the Reading game. Vokes still leads the table but can now only sit and wait to see whether he can hold on to his lead over Shackell which is now just four points.
That vote will get underway on Saturday afternoon within an hour of the final whistle and the result of the Ipswich game is below with the player of the year table.
