Marney is Swansea star

Dean Marney
Marney, captain in the absence of both Graham Alexander and Clarke Carlisle, had an excellent game in the midfield as the Clarets came from behind to beat the Swans 2-1 to end a run of six games without a win.

In the man of the match, Marney polled 31.8% of the vote, ahead of Cork who had a 26.8% share. Chris Eagles took third place with 14.5% of the vote.

Marney was also the winner in the player ratings. His rating of 7.73 out of 10 was again enough to give him first place ahead of Cork who was again second with a rating of 7.45. Wade Elliott was this time in third place with a rating of 7.18 out of 10.

That gives Marney the maximum six points; there are four points for Cork and one each for Eagles and Elliott.

It gives Cork a 30 point lead at the top with five league games remaining plus the possibility of the play offs. He's certainly going to take some catching. Eagles is in second place and he himself has a lead of 26 over Jay Rodriguez who is currently in third place.

The voting is currently underway for the man of the match from the win over Middlesbrough. The poll can be found to the bottom right of the front page. It will run until the end of Friday and the Derby game man of the match vote will start within an hour of the final whistle.
