For Jones it was a first ever league goal for Burnley and it was just Marney's second of the season, and the two fought it out to be our best player from the game and it was Marney who came out on top.
He won the man of the match with 34.3% of the vote, just ahead of the 30.9% won by Jones. Scott Arfield took third place with 11.3% and 8.8% of the vote secured fourth place for Michael Duff.
The three midfielders at the top took the first three places in the player ratings too, and in the same order.
Marney won it with a rating of 8.41 out of 10, Jones was second with 8.29 and exactly 8 out of 10 won Arfield third place.
Fourth place here went to Sam Vokes with a rating of 7.79 out of 10.
That result gave Marney the maximum of ten points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year.
Jones collected six points and there were four points for Arfield and one each for Duff and Vokes.
It's made little change to the player of the year table. Vokes leads Jason Shackell by 17 points at the top but all the other points scorers for this game are between fifth and eighth in the table.
The next vote will be for the Blackburn game and that will be available during Sunday afternoon.
