Marlon takes first place in team

Marlon claimed the top spot in the goalkeeper poll, his poor performances of his last spell at Burnley clearly forgotten as he pulled in over 48% of the voting leaving current Claret Danny Coyne way behind in second place.

Marlon had started the ten year period as the Burnley goalkeeper and held the position for almost the first three years until moving to Middlesbrough in March 1998. He returned for a loan spell early in 2002 before playing on short term contracts a season later when neither he nor Nik Michopoulos were able to find any sort of form.

He played a total of 287 league games for the Clarets and that’s more than any other keeper has played for us since Alan Stevenson. Marlon now takes his place in the side as voting gets underway to choose a right back.
