Marlon goes to Oldham

Marlon Beresford
Beresford, now 38, signed a new two year deal with the Hatters just before manager Mike Newell was sacked. He was first choice but when Blackwell took charge for the first time at Turf Moor last season there was no place for Marlon in the side.

He hasn't played any first team football since and his chances of getting back in the Luton side are even less with the signing of Tottenham's movie star keeper Ben Alnwick. This has led to him returning to the North West for the next month at least with both Oldham goalkeepers, Mark Crossley and Les Pogliacomi, out with thigh and knee injuries respectively."

Beresford said today after completing the move: "I'm looking forward to it. It's been a while since I've played so it will be nice to get some games under my belt. I'm glad the opportunity arose and hopefully it will be a good month.

"I've got good memories of this league from winning the title with Luton in 2005/06 and I want to help John Sheridan out and for things to turn out well. I would be interested in extending the loan, but that's down to circumstances surrounding the other lads and how long they are out. If they are back then they're the goalkeepers here so I'd probably have to look to move on again."

Marlon will make his Oldham debut this Saturday against Huddersfield Town at the Galpharm Stadium.
