Marlon Beresford's stay at York could be extended

There was lots of conflicting evidence as to how long the deal was but Marlon himself confirmed that it was just for a month.

That month comes to an end next week and as yet there is no definite news of what happens next as far as the former Burnley keeper is concerned although one thing for sure is that York would like him to extend his stay.

York boss Terry Dolan has stated that he would love to extend Marlon's deal after he has kept regular keeper Alan Fettis out of the side.

Dolan said, "It's a nice situation for me to be in, that's for sure, to have two quality goalkeepers to pick from.

"Marlon has not done anything wrong while he has been with us and Alan is going to have to be patient.

"We'll speak to Marlon at the beginning of next week as regards to where we go from here, but I'm hoping he'll stay with us."

For the record Marlon has played in all of York's six league games to date and has conceded eight goals and kept just one clean sheet. That clean sheet came in a 2-0 home win against league new boys Boston United. His worst day was conceding three against Torquay although they still went on to win 4-3.

Along with two other former Burnley players, Chris Brass and Tom Cowan, he has helped take the Minstermen to second in the table with only Hartlepool United above them.
