Mancini in for Hughes

Roberto Mancini - the new Manchester City boss
They did win, but even before the final whistle it was clear Hughes was saying his goodbyes and he did just that after the game came to an end. Having lost the job he still had to go out and play manager in front of everyone this afternoon and it does make you wonder about this club.

They think they are a big club, but big clubs don't work like that and certainly don't humiliate people in such a way. I'm no fan of Mark Hughes, he seems to have the ability to whinge even more than Wenger, but that was way out of order what they did to him today.

Sir Alex Ferguson scoffs at the thought they are the biggest club in Manchester and today's events confirm everything he says.

The new man waiting to come through the door was former Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini and he will now work alongside new assistant boss Brian Kidd.

Interesting that City have lost just twice this season, to Manchester United and Spurs, and they currently sit in sixth place.

Hughes hasn't left alone; Mark Bowen, Eddie Niedzwiecki, Kevin Hitchock and Glyn Hodges have also been shown the door as the second Premier League club this season opts to change manager.
