Madley back at Turf Moor for Derby game

Trippier has only missed two games since signing for Burnley; at Norwich in the FA Cup two seasons ago and the 1-0 league win at Hull last season. Both were due to him serving suspensions after red cards that looked ridiculously harsh.

Mark Brown from Hull sent him off at Leeds and he'll be on the touchline tomorrow, acting as fourth official, but the referee who dismissed him last season for supposedly handling on the line was Bobby Madley from Ossett in West Yorkshire.

Although Charlton missed the penalty it left us to play most of the game with ten men with Charlton winning the game 1-0. On his only visit since to Turf Moor he made a game changing decision that saw us go out of the Capital One Cup against West Ham.

He awarded them two late penalties but the first, a supposed foul by Jason Shackell, was an absolute nonsense, as bad as the penalty his brother gave against Shackell at Derby earlier in the season. With the second, a correct decision, he also deemed it necessary to send off Keith Treacy.

Madley has been accused by television pundits of giving decisions based on what might have happened when he can't see. That was definitely the case with the Shackell penalty and a week later there was one even worse when he awarded Stoke a penalty in stoppage time that led to them getting a point at Swansea. It was another appalling decision.

He was also the referee when we went out of the FA Cup at Southampton. There were no problems here and, surprisingly, there were no cards. That's rare for him but was the second time in successive games.

Besides Treacy, he's sent off two more Championship players this season. Millwall's Alan Dunne was the first in their 1-1 draw at Brighton in August and in December he dismissed Darius Henderson as Forest drew 0-0 at Birmingham.

In 19 games this season he's sent off six players whilst also yellow carding 69 players, with 32 of those going to home team players and 37 to away team players.

It is four weeks since he last refereed a game. That was Everton's 2-1 Premier League win against Aston Villa at Goodison Park when just one player, Everton's Leighton Baines, was yellow carded.

The assistant referees are Richard West (East Yorkshire) and Nick Hobbis (West Midlands). The fourth official is Mark Brown (East Yorkshire).
