Macca gets Scotland call up

I wasn't sure how a lad from Chester with a woolly back accent comes to qualify for Scotland, but his name should have been something of a clue. The reason is that his dad is a Glaswegian.

Macca has already been to a training camp with the squad, managed by Billy Stark, and has now been named in that squad for a friendly against Holland that will be played in Veenendaal this Friday kicking off at 6:00 p.m.

Of his call up he said: "I am absolutely ecstatic The game is on Friday and I just can't wait. My father is a proud Glaswegian and it has always been in the back of my mind that I would choose Scotland over England.

"I still can't believe it's happened so soon though and I just want to go there, hopefully be involved and do my family and the club proud."

Clarets Mad are heavily involved in fundraising for youth development at Burnley and to see Alex following in the recent international footsteps of the likes of Richard Chaplow and Kyle Lafferty is great news for the club and is further proof that we are very much getting things right at this level.

Hopefully he'll get a game against the Dutch and we certainly send him our best wishes at what we hope is the start of a long and successful international career.
