Luton arrives from Jamaica

Shelton however arrives with a hamstring injury and it could be that much of his time is spent with physio Andy Mitchell although this is no problem with the manager saying, “If he is a week or ten days away from training there is no point in us leaving him in Jamaica when he can come over here and get what I call quality work from our physio and a quality assessment.”

He 19 year-old Shelton, who is six foot tall, is a pacy striker who plays his football for top Jamaican club Harbour View and was one of the players Steve Cotterill was keen to see when he went over to watch CONCACAF games in Los Angeles recently.

Unfortunately he missed out on seeing Shelton who, having scored the first goal for Jamaica in their 4-3 victory over Guatemala, was out injured for the match Steve took in against South Africa.

Shelton is described as very quick with an eye for goal and has represented the Reggae Boyz at Under-17, Under-20, Under-23 and now full international level.

Given that we were so keen to bring him over despite the injury I would suspect it is more than likely that he will become a Claret in the near future, he is surely over here for far more than just a trial.
