Lucketti not for Burnley

Johnny Mac is out for six weeks and Cotterill contacted his Sheffield United counterpart Neil Warnock to enquire about the availablility of the 35 year old Littleborough born defender, but the player does not want to move on loan.

He's had a difficult time at Bramall Lane, unable to break into the first team, but he's looking for a permanent move away and is not keen on simply a loan deal. Both Preston and Burnley have shown an interest in him and only this week Preston boss Paul Simpson pulled out of any deal to take him back to Deepdale because of his wages.

Steve Cotterill said: “We would have been interested in taking Chris on loan, but from what I gather I don't think he is keen on a loan. I made a speculative phone call to Neil Warnock the other week and I think the player wanted a permanent move, so it isn't one we can follow up and we won't be signing him.”

It's not the first time he's been on the Burnley shopping list, some eight years ago Stan Ternent wanted both him and Paul Butler to follow him from Bury Turf Moor, but they both moved on, Lucketti joining Huddersfield for £750,000. He's obviously not destined to play for the club just a few miles down the road from his birthplace.
