Lucketti is latest to be linked

Chris Lucketti - looking to resurrect his career
It all started towards the end of last month when some of the Sunday papers suggested Robbie Blake was on his way back in a loan deal. Mind you, Robbie has been linked with loan moves to a whole host of clubs recently as his future at Leeds seems to be less and less secure by the week. The latest are Wolves and Derby who are supposedly fighting it out to complete a deal with a permanent option in January.

Blake back to Burnley – and then within a week we were told we could forget that, it was Robbie's replacement Ade Akinbiyi who was coming back in a temporary move from Sheffield United. I was struggling to come to terms with how we would pay his wages when Neil Warnock saved me the bother and said he was going nowhere.

I thought that might have calmed things down a bit but over the last two weekends it has been Sheffield United defenders who are supposedly signing for us. Last week it was Chris Morgan, a player who has already started five of their nine Premiership games this season and came on as a substitute yesterday at Everton.

Today the attention has moved to Chris Lucketti, who joined the Blades on loan from Preston for the last part of last season before making his move permanent in the summer. Lucketti's situation is somewhat different; he's not featured in the Premiership this season and has been told he can go out on loan by Warnock.

According to the tabloids today, we want him on loan to cover for John McGreal but the player wants a move only if it will lead to a permanent deal in January. Now 35, the former Preston defender is looking to get his career back on the move after making just two starts plus two substitute appearances since February.

It all sells papers apparently.
