Lomas in Burnley link

The 31 year-old German born Lomas has been with West Ham for over eight years since Harry Redknapp paid Manchester City £1.6 million for his services but injuries in recent seasons have seen him out of the side for long periods.

He did play in just over half of their games last season as they reached the play offs and went on to promotion but he hasn’t featured in the first team since March when he played in a 3-1 defeat at Reading.

With the Hammers back in the Premiership he has been made surplus to requirements by manager Alan Pardew and rumour suggests that he could be heading back to the north west where he was such a popular player with the Manchester City fans for a number of years in the 1990s.

He doesn’t quite fit the profile of player Steve Cotterill has spoken about but having recently tried to sign Artim Sakiri, a move for an experienced midfield player cannot be ruled out.
