Our local newspaper is part of Johnston Press and were required to organise the companies annual conference. Tasked with arranging speakers the sports editor Edward Lee approached the Football Club’s Chief Executive Dave Edmundson just a matter of a few weeks after his arrival at Turf Moor. Dave was only too happy to accept the invitation but could have had no idea that it would lead to our biggest ever sponsorship deal.

Representatives from Hunters were present, were impressed with Dave’s speech and spoke to him afterwards. Dave took the opportunity to enquire about sponsorship and that started the discussions that led to the deal being completed this week.

Hunters might well be a Yorkshire company but it has now been revealed that there is already some established Claret & Blue within their organisation. Two of their directors Keith and Kevin Hollinrake, who were both at Turf Moor today, said that their father and grandfather had both been Burnley supporters.

The deal is for the next two years and their name will be on both the home and away shirts next season and although there is no news as yet it is believed that the away shirt will return to a more traditional white for 2004/05.

This news follows on from the five year extension of the James Hargreaves Stand sponsorship which was recently announced by the club.
