Little expected to start against Coventry

Marlon Beresford - last game during current contract
Glen Little started that game on the bench but after coming on midway through the first half he turned in a performance that would make it virtually impossible to leave him out. Glen was at his best and his link up play with Paul Weller and in particular Robbie Blake was a major reason for us coming from behind to win the game.

It was unfortunate for Mark McGregor who was the player sacrificed in a switch that saw skipper Steve Davis move back into the centre of defence. There is no doubt that Steve looks far more comfortable in a defensive role and he has also said that it is his preferred position.

Stan had decided to try and keep it tight in the early stages against Preston, surely he had no option after we conceded twelve goals in three games within a week, but what will he do tomorrow?

Given that Glen has now demanded a start after Wednesday it would be no surprise to see us start with the eleven that played most of that cup tie. This would see us line up: Marlon Beresford, Dean West, Steve Davis, Arthur Gnohere, Graham Branch, Glen Little, Paul Weller, Tony Grant, Lee Briscoe, Robbie Blake, Gareth Taylor. Subs from: Mark McGregor, Paul Cook, Alan Moore, Ian Moore, Brad Maylett, Dimitri Papadopoulos.

Marlon could once again be set to play his last game. His current deal comes to an end over this weekend and as yet he hasn’t signed a further deal. We believe he has now been offered a deal until the end of next season. It is a take it or leave it offer and as yet Marlon has not agreed to it.

Coventry arrive with a team of loan players, four are expected to be in their squad, and they failed yesterday to bring in a fifth in Aston Villa’s Dion Dublin. They were looking to bring in Dublin because his former Villa team mate Julian Joachim has had a re-occurrence of his heel injury and will not be available. Jay Bothroyd remains a doubt too, in fact the latest indications from Highfield Road are that he won’t make it.

With these injuries Gary McSheffrey returns to the squad but he is not expected to start, Lee Mills and Craig Hignett will almost certainly be the front two.

Coventry are in fact expected to line up: Morten Hyldgaard, Dean Gordon, Gary Caldwell, Callum Davenport, Brian Kerr, Mo Konjic, Ritchie Partridge, Gary McAllister, Ritchie Partridge, Lee Mills, Craig Hignett. Subs from; Fabien Debec, Richard Shaw, John Eustace, Youssef Chippo, Youssef Safri, Gary McSheffrey.
