Linington set for Championship debut

He's an inexperienced referee who was used sparingly last season in the Blue Square Premiership and made his league bow in the middle on the opening day of this season, taking charge of the League Two game between Wycombe and Morecambe.

To date, two League One games apart, all his Football League experience is in League Two. In total he's refereed just eleven Football League games and one League Trophy game.

In those twelve games he's handed out 38 yellow cards and three red cards. Of those yellow cards 15 have gone to home team players and 23 to away team players whilst two of the three players he's sent off have been playing for the away team.

In truth I know little about him, but this is a referee who claims the Isle of Wight Cup Final to have been one of his biggest games.

He will be assisted at Watford by Steve Creighton (Berkshire) and Harry Lennard (East Sussex) with fourth official duties in the hands of Irvine Woodward (East Sussex).
