Levein confirmed at the Crisp Bowl

Leicester have been in the hunt for a new boss since Micky Adams resigned and for the last few games Director of Football Dave Bassett has been in charge with assistance from Howard Wilkinson.

Bassett has had to advise the board on a replacement for Adams whilst hoping that he would get the nod for the post on a permanent basis. His pleas were ignored and in fact they have appointed a manager who Bassett admitted knowing nothing about.

It appears that the Leicester board have instead taken advise from their former manager Martin O’Neill.

Levein has been at Hearts for almost four years having previously managed Cowdenbeath for three years. He will have a watching brief tomorrow when they play Cardiff at Ninian Park and will take charge from Monday.

Presumably Howard Wilkinson will now depart whilst the future for Bassett might not be quite so secure following the new choice of manager.
