Lenny leaves the Turf

Johnrose was a surprise signing ahead of the home game with Sheffield United back in August. He was named as a sub for that game and replaced Paul Weller at half time in our third consective defeat.

Since then and until last Saturday he has featured in each one of our league games either starting or coming on as a sub but on Saturday at Bradford he was not in the sixteen with Paul Cook playing from the start and Alan Moore the only midfielder on the bench.

Early indications this week were that Stan Ternent was going to offer him a further month but the first doubts were cast yesterday when the manager said he would have to speak to Chairman Barry Kilby.

Whatever money Lenny was on it looks as though we could not afford to continue paying it and Stan could only say today, "Unfortunately we won't be offering Lenny another month."

With Paul Cook clear of suspension, Stretch Armstrong fit again and Paul Weller getting closer it was perhaps thought that the emergency money available could be saved.

Lenny was close to accepting a deal with Blackpool before returning to the Turf, it remains to be seen whether the Seasiders would still be interested in signing him.
