Leicester could be here twice in a week

Joe Anderson - scored four times last time we met Leicester in the FA Cup
We play our rearranged league game against them on Tuesday 8th March after it was abandoned on New Year's Day because of a waterlogged pitch.

And today’s FA Cup 6th round draw means they will certainly be back in East Lancashire on the following weekend when they will play either ourselves or our rivals from down the road.

Whether that will be us or not will all b
e decided a week tomorrow when we make that visit to Ewood Park, a ground where we have won six and drawn one of our last nine visits.

As for Leicester, o
ur only previous FA Cup encounter against themr came a long time ago, 84 years to be exact, during our Championship season of 1920/21 and in the middle of that wonderful run of 30 league games without defeat.

That was a 3rd round tie at Filbert Street and it ended in a 7-3 win for the Clarets. Joe Anderson was the star of the show that day with four of the goals that day with the others coming from Bob Kelly, Benny Cross and an own goal.

There was one other FA Cup clash but that was after both sides had been knocked out. It was one of those inspirational ideas from the FA to have a play off for 3rd place and we met in 1974 having both lost in the semi-finals.

It was played at Filbert Street, because our pitch had been dug up, and Burnley won 1-0 in a match between two less than full strength sides. Ray Hankin got the goal.

This season's 6th round ties will be played on Sat/Sun 12th/13th March and the full draw is:

Newcastle United v Tottenham Hotspur or Nottingham Forest

Southampton or Brentford v Manchester United

Bolton Wanderers v Arsenal or Sheffield United

Burnley or Blackburn Rovers v Leicester City
