Leeds punished for rule break at Burnley

Geoff Horsfield - one of six loan players in the squad
The rules clearly state that no squad can include more than five loan players but Leeds, a club who obviously believe they are above the rules, decided to name six. It made no difference, they still lost the game, but the obnoxious Dennis Wise was caught out with this rule breaking.

The excuses were laughable, they used the loaning out of Paul Butler, Sean Gregan and Neil Sullivan as an excuse, and then incredibly the late exclusion of Matthew Kilgallon through injury.

Incredibly this blatant breaking of Football League regulations has cost them no more than £1,000. They were fined double that but half of it has been suspended. It seems as though the League took into account the extenuating circumstances surrounding the late withdrawal of Kilgallon. What in fact they have done is basically say it is OK to break the rules.

Graham Stack, Matt Heath and Ugo Ehiogu all started the game whilst Tony Warner, Tresor Kandol and Geoff Horsfield were all named on the bench.
