Ledley gets second midfield place

Ledley always looked to be the comfortable winner in the vote that run from Wednesday to Friday and when the poll closed at midnight last night he was some distance in front of the rest with 32.2% of the vote.

The battle for second place proved to be more interesting but in the end Bristol City's Michael McIndoe was a surprise runner up with 17.1% of the vote whilst Peter Halmosi, so impressive for Plymouth against us in the game at Home Park, came third with 11.3%.

Winner Ledley is a player in demand. He was the subject of a £2.5 million bid from Wolves in the last transfer window but chose to stay with his home town club. However, a big offer, with Everton expected to bid, could see him leave this summer. Now 21 he has played over 150 league games for Cardiff and becomes the first member of our team that didn't play for one of the top six clubs.

He joins a team that now includes: Adrian Basso (Bristol City), Bradley Orr (Bristol City), Ryan Shawcross (Stoke), Danny Shittu (Watford), Paul Robinson (West Brom), Liam Lawrence (Stoke) and Joe Ledley (Cardiff).

Over the next week we'll be completing the midfield. After long deliberations a total of sixteen central midfield players were chosen and the voting is now underway to select the first to go into the team. Should there be a clear winner then the remaining fifteen will then go to a second vote to complete the midfield.

As always the voting poll can be found down the right hand side of the front page.
