Lawrence is top wide man

Having completed the defence last week the last three days have seen you voting for the player of your choice to play on the right hand side of a midfield four and right from the start it was always going to be a two horse race between Lawrence and Gera.

Both led at times but in the last 24 hours it was Lawrence who pulled away to poll 39.2% of the vote and a place in the team. Gera's 32.4% was enough to give him second place by some distance.

No other player reached double figures and the third place went to Michael Mifsud of Coventry with no more than 7.0% of the vote.

Winner Lawrence has been with Stoke for almost two years. He first joined them on loan from RK Sunderland after he was one of a number of players forced into looking for a new club. The deal was made a permanent one in January of last year.

Over the past season, along with Ricardo Fuller, he's been considered one of the most important players in Stoke's promotion. He played in all but five of their league games, one he missed was the 0-0 draw at Burnley, and scored no fewer than fourteen goal of which four were penalties. There has to be some debate over one of those spot kicks but the goal against us was credited to him.

Five players named in our side now. They are: Adriano Basso (Bristol City), Bradley Orr (Bristol City), Ryan Shawcross (Stoke), Danny Shittu (Watford), Paul Robinson (West Brom),

For the next three days we are asking you to cast your vote for your choice to play on the left hand side of midfield. The voting poll, as always, is down the left hand side of the front page of the site.
