Ian Moore - 50 league goals
Ian Moore played his 250th league game in our 3-0 defeat at Reading at the end of last month and of those 77 of them had been for the Clarets since signing from Stockport in December 2000.

Not far behind him was Mark McGregor although in his case he was able to celebrate it with a victory, he reached the 250 milestone in the 2-1 win at Derby. This was just his sixth appearance in the league for Burnley after playing 244 for his only other club Wrexham.

That takes us back to Ian Moore and his goals. The question is just how many league goals has Ian Moore scored? It all depends on which records you look at as to whether the answer is 49, 50 or 51 but here at Clarets Mad we think we have it right with 50.

Of those goals 49 are not in doubt and are definitely Mooro’s but two goals in the 3rd from last match in each of the last two seasons hold the key to the real total.

Most record books do not credit him with our first goal in the 2-1 home win against Tranmere in April 2001 but have it down as an own goal by Gareth Roberts but then again most record books do credit him with the first goal against Gillingham last April when it was clearly Kevin Ball’s goal.

He was originally credited with the Tranmere goal despite the deflection and so here at Clarets Mad we are happy to go along with that. However we are not prepared to give him the goal against Gillingham, yes he got a touch but that was taking it away from goal before Bally got a heel on it an turned it in from all of a couple of feet out.

So he misses out on one and gets the other and that has far as we are concerned takes him to 50 with his equaliser against Millwall last Tuesday.
