Last ex-Claret loses job

I'm not sure how far we have to go back to see the list bereft of ex-Clarets but Laws had been the last man standing for just over a year since Huddersfield parted company with Stan Ternent on 11th December 2008.

He replaced Paul Sturrock at Wednesday in November 2006, leaving the job at Scunthorpe for the second time to move to Hillsborough. Wednesday were 16th in the table at the time but such was the improvement that they finished ninth just four points short of the play offs.

Just a year after his appointment he could have been on the move again when Burnley came calling for his services. He wanted the move but Wednesday, a club we've had a few problems with in recent years, refused him permission to speak to us.

It's been an up and down time though in the three years. The 2007/08 season started very badly and this season a poor run has seen them drop into the bottom three bringing about the action taken yesterday by the Wednesday board.

A number of people have already been linked with the job and some publications this morning are naming former Burnley boss Steve Cotterill as favourite.

But with Laws gone, who will be the next ex-Claret to manage in the Premier or Football League?
