Lafferty speculation mounts

With Lafferty out of contention with a suspension following his red card against Arsenal it looked as though it might be a quiet January as far as he was concerned but after speculation started at the end of last week it now seems to be that Celtic have put in a massive offer for him with Lafferty valued at £3.1 million.

Burnley have been in hot pursuit of Celtic's Derek Riordan this month but had an offer, believed to be £400,000, turned down by Gordon Strachan. This offer for Lafferty is supposedly £2.5 million plus Riordan with Celtic having put a £600,000 valuation on him.

As always the speculation has Lafferty keen to make the move north of the border with a source close to the player saying: ""Kyle is very keen to get this move but only if the clubs can agree. He knows how big Celtic are and that it would be a wonderful opportunity for him. Kyle knows all about the offer and is waiting to find out if Burnley want to accept. He's excited about the possibility and we'll all know soon enough.

"Celtic's offer is a new one and it's also a good one and the fact they are trying again to get him shows how much they rate him. This would be a good move and the offer being made should also please Burnley but we'll see within the next couple of days."

Burnley fans are expecting a busy three days now before the transfer window closes, and if Lafferty was to move to Celtic then it would surely make it even busier with a need to add even further numbers to our squad.
