Lafferty speculation continues

Kyle Lafferty
Kyle was back in action this week after his suspension, and he played an hour for Northern Ireland in their friendly against Bulgaria at Windsor Park, Belfast. One interested spectator at the game was Ally McCoist who was checking him out for Rangers.

There was rumour last week that the Glasgow club had made a bid for him, although that was quickly refuted, but it is now believed they could be ready in the summer with a massive £4 million bid, a deal that would include Alan Gow.

That won't put off their rivals Celtic, and with Derek Riordan still to use as bait, they could well more than match that offer for a player Gordon Strachan rates very highly.

Brendan Flood said at the end of last week that we might need to win promotion to keep him whilst Owen Coyle hinted there had been some persuasion to keep the player at Burnley throughout January.

However Coyle has now been reported as saying: "Kyle has everything to go to the very top in the game and he would have made a massive impression at Celtic if that deal had been concluded.

"He is 6ft 4in, he can run like the wind and he can go left or right to get past people. Even though he is not yet 21, he has an international pedigree with Northern Ireland.

"People say we are asking a high price and the difficulty is putting the value on potential. But a lot of clubs are interested in Kyle."

The only thing for definite is that Kyle Lafferty is available for Burnley tomorrow for the first time since he was sent off against Arsenal almost five weeks ago and is expected to go straight back into the squad.
