Lafferty looking for eighth cap

It's the international break for the World Cup play offs but with Northern Ireland out of the competition they will face Turkey next Friday, 15th November, at the Adana 5 Ocak Stadium in Adana which plays host to league clubs Adana Demirspor and Adanaspor.

Lafferty won his seventh cap last month when Northern Ireland earned a very respectable point in a 1-1 draw against Israel in Ramat Gan and, if selected, this will be his first action since having not featured in the Burnley team since the defeat at Brighton.

He'll be joined by former team mate Martin Paterson who is also out of the picture at his new club Huddersfield. He's made a couple of substitute appearances but the last of his five Championship starts this season was back in mid-September in a 0-0 home draw against Doncaster.

There are no other ex-Clarets called up with Kyle Lafferty, sent off again recently after coming on as a substitute, out of favour and left out of Michael O'Neill's squad.

The full squad is: ROY CARROLL (OLYMPIACOS), ALAN MANNUS (ST. JOHNSTONE), GARETH McAULEY(WEST BROM), JONNY EVANS (MANCHESTER UNITED), LEE HODSON (MK FRANCHISE), DANNY LAFFERTY (BURNLEY), RORY McARDLE (BRADFORD CITY), AARON HUGHES (FULHAM), CHRIS BAIRD (READING), STEVEN DAVIS (SOUTHAMPTON), OLIVER NORWOOD (HUDDERSFIELD), SHANE FERGUSON (BIRMINGHAM, loan from NEWCASTLE), CHRIS BRUNT (WEST BROM), SAMMY CLINGAN (KILMARNOCK), MICHAEL O'CONNOR (ROTHERHAM), BILLY McKAY (INVERNESS CT), MARTIN PATERSON (HUDDERSFIELD), JAMIE WARD (DERBY), NIALL McGINN (ABERDEEN), WILL GRIGG (BRENTFORD)

Meanwhile, Cameron Howieson has missed out on the New Zealand squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Mexico this month.
