Lafferty heads north

I was led to believe over Christmas that there could be a loan move for Kyle and although the news has not as yet been confirmed by either club but it is reported that he will be joining the Quakers and could step straight into their side to play Notts County on Saturday.

He joined the first team squad at the beginning of the season and appeared in all of the first five games as a substitute but has not figured since, but his future at Turf Moor is assured and in the week before Christmas he signed his first professional deal which commits him to the Clarets until the end of the 2007/08 season.

He’s still 18, and this move, will give him more experience although it will prevent him from playing in our FA Youth Cup tie against Fulham next week.

Steve Cotterill said about the move, “It will be good experience for him - he needs that to toughen him up a little bit now. We're pleased with that, and we hope he goes and does well for them.

“It's league football, and that can only do him good. As regards closeness to the team here, Chris McCann is ahead of him this year, although Chris is older than Kyle. Kyle is such a big lad that you forget he is such a young lad. But to go out on loan will do him good."
