Lafferty bid - we could turn it down

We do have a value on him, there has to be a price at which selling a player is the right thing to do, but when Fulham offered £3 million last Friday it didn't come close to the valuation we have on our teenage international striker.

The value we have on him was set by the manager in discussions with the club's operational directors but Brendan Flood stressed that by the time the next transfer window opens that valuation will have increased.

"I think it is fair to say we have been a selling club in the last few years," he said and Barry Kilby added: "The difference now is that we don't need to sell, we are trying to build the squad and we want to give it a real go this season."

So Kyle is very much wanted by those in charge at Burnley, and we can afford to keep him and resist the offers from Fulham, so he's staying with us. In any case Kyle told Jackie Fullerton he was Burnley through and through and he wouldn't be going to Fulham.
