Lafferty and Celtic - going up

One newspaper was reporting yesterday that the Hoops had offered us £2.5 million plus Derek Riordan four our want away player and today it has been revealed that the fee has gone up to £2.75 million whilst Celtic have promised us a fixture, presumably a pre-season friendly, with the Clarets keeping the entire receipts.

Yesterday's offer included quotes from Sandy Stewart who said no one had come close to the value we've put on the player, so how much closer this takes it is anyone's guess.

The report suggests that Celtic value this package at £3.75 million, and that sort of figure must be close to what Burnley would accept. I suspect Burnley will not value it though at anything like that.

Tomorrow presumably we'll get an increased offer from Mick McCarthy at Wolves, maybe he'll throw in yet another player, but it does look as though Rangers could be losing interest. It is a while since their last offer which included Alan Gow, a player who turned down a loan move to Burnley last January.
