Kyle is early leader

In previous seasons the award has gone to the player who won the most man of the match votes within the season, those votes coming from the voting polls which are on the front page of the site. But from this season points will be awarded after each game, decided on two results.

As in previous seasons the man of the voting poll will be used but the players finishing in the top three places in the poll will receive points. To add to this the player ratings thread on the message board will now be incorporated. The ratings will be accumulated and averaged and again points awarded to the top three players.

The ratings thread will run for around two days whilst the voting polls, as in previous seasons, will generally run for a minimum of three days.

That takes us to Kyle Lafferty, who is the early leader after winning both following the West Brom game. Andy Gray and Wayne Thomas also scored points in both whilst Andy Gray collected points from the player ratings thread on the message board.

The top three in the ratings thread were Lafferty, Gray followed by Duff and Thomas in joint third place, whilst Lafferty again won the voting poll followed by Duff & Thomas. That means the player of the season voting has started as follows:

Lafferty 6 (3 from mom poll, 3 from ratings)
Duff 3 (2 from mom poll, 1 from ratings)
Gray 2 (2 from ratings)
Thomas 2 (1 from mom poll, 1 from ratings)
