Kuqi news - Stockport preparing for an offer

The Unprofessionals new boss Carlton Palmer is looking to rebuild the ailing side and has admitted that he will need to sell before he can buy. Palmer has said that almost certainly Kuqi, as the most saleable asset, is almost certain to go sooner rather than later.

Stockport County's own official, and almost professional, web site says that they turned down a £500,000 offer from Blackburn for Kuqi but because of Palmer's desire to bring in new faces they believe that a similar bid from the Clarets will be accepted.

Palmer is linked with long throw expert Dave Challinor from Tranmere and Huddersfield's Kenny Irons and has identified 16 current players who no longer have a future at Edgeley Park. Kuqi is the key player though because he will bring in the sort of money that will allow them to bring in some of the players they want.

We of course were linked with him last week and some rumours were even suggesting that he was having talks with us. Stockport have discounted that and said they have not received an offer from the Clarets. They do though admit that they are expecting one.

This is clearly an invitation from Elwood of the Unprofessionals for the Clarets to bid for him. If you want him Stan then I reckon you should offer about £300,000 and then after tough negotiations with Elwood he will probably force you to pay £100,000 less than your first offer.

Kuqi played well at the Turf but personally having only seen him play a couple of times I am in no position to judge whether he will be a good signing for us or not. Stan and his team though will have watched him more than enough to make a decision as to whether they should try and bring him in.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him sat on the bench for our next league game at Wimbledon on 12th January.
