Kevan exit confirmed

Kevan, whose family live in the Nottingham area, has decided to accept the job working for Ian McParland after almost three and a half years at Burnley.

Steve Cotterill said after today's game at Barnsley: "Dave is leaving us and it is very sad. I have known him for quite a while and it is terrible that the rumour has come out because we (Burnley and Notts County) wanted to announce it on Monday. I'm only answering the question now because I have been asked.

"But the Notts County manager Ian McParland is Dave's best mate and Dave's family are in Nottingham. His children are there too and I think in the end that ended up being too big a pull. I could tell when we spoke on Wednesday that Dave wanted to go and I didn't want to confuse him.

"He is probably a different character to myself. He is a really good, honest citizen and a popular character. He is also a good coach and we mustn't overlook that and we are sad to see him go."

"We won't be doing any replacing at the moment. It will probably up the workload for a few, but we will get on with it and we will be okay."

Coach Steve Davis and goalkeeping coach Phil Hughes will now work alongside the manager until such time as any replacement is brought in. The news of this broke in the Nottingham area yesterday which led to us investigating it. Dave's move was confirmed to us this morning ahead of the trip to Barnsley.
