Kelly gets Leicester job

Kelly took over on a temporary basis when Craig Levein was sacked and has since helped to turn around the fortunes of the midlands club with three successive wins that have taken them out of the bottom three and six points clear.

Wins against QPR, Wolves and Brighton have got him the job with Mike Stowell as his assistant and there will be many club chairmen sleeping a lot easier now after Leicester approached so many other clubs.

We know that Preston, Leeds, Luton, Notts County, QPR and Brentford were all approached by Leicester and who knows how many others. They were very publicly attacked last week by Chris Kamara for their approach and we ourselves know just how unsettling such approaches can be.

Leicester’s Chief Exec Tim Davies claimed that Kelly was always one of the options considered but even as late as this morning they still looked to be chasing candidates from outside the club and the impression is that they have now appointed from within and will make further moves during the close season to permanently replace Levein.

That is very unlikely to be Steve Cotterill, club sources lead Clarets Mad to believe that Steve Cotterill could very soon be signing an extended deal to continue at Turf Moor.
