Kay keeping options open

Kay won himself a one year deal at Burnley in the summer of 2008 after a successful two year apprenticeship, but he's still to make a first team debut in Burnley colours although he did make the bench on some occasions, notably in the cup game at Chelsea.

He moved to Accrington on loan in March but had a wait before making his debut, being an unused substitute in each of his first six games. The debut came, as a sub, in the away game at Brentford before getting his first start at home against Chesterfield a week later.

He went on to make one further substitute appearance and has said: "It's up to my gaffer and the gaffer at Accrington and we'll just see what happens.

"I think I did quite well when I played for Accrington and if I carried on playing a few games I think I would do well, obviously I try to do better in every game. I wish I could have played more but it is what it is.

"Hopefully I can get a contract at Burnley and progress from there but I've got three league appearances now and if I'd stayed at Burnley for the rest of the season I wouldn't have had that."
