Kalvenes came in for the suspended Stephen Jordan in what was the only change from the side that had lost at Reading, and he had the difficult task of dealing with Sebastian Larsson who was on the right hand side for Birmingham.

But he did it to great effect and Larsson was hardly a threat as the Clarets spent just about the entire game on top against a team that was top of the league prior to kick off.

His performance has seen him selected for the official Football League Championship Team of the Week and he lines up in a side that is made up of players from ten different clubs with only Derby, winners against Plymouth, having two players named.

The full team is: Neil Sullivan (Doncaster), Shaun Barker (Blackpool), Mark Beevers (Sheffield Wednesday), Jamie McCombe (Bristol City), Christian Kalvenes (Burnley), Nacer Barazite (Derby), Ben Watson (Crystal Palace), Paul Green (Derby), Michael Kightly (Wolves), Tamas Priskin (Watford), Ross McCormack (Cardiff).
