Just another month for Marlon

When Marlon signed for a month in October Stan said he expected a longer term deal to be sorted out the week after but that didn't happen and now it is just another month in this his third time at the club this year.

He came in on loan at the end of January following an injury to Nik Michopoulos in the FA Cup defeat at Cheltenham and was with us for almost two months before being called back by his club Middlesbrough.

Stan said at the time that he wanted to sign him but that all seemed to disappear when the club's financial difficulties were revealed in the summer that left us unable to strengthen our squad.

Marlon did though make a second return to the Turf when he trained with us during pre-season but when we were unable to make him an offer he signed for 3rd Division York for a month as replacement for the injured Alan Fettis.

With Fettis recovered and Burnley having made a dreadful start to the season with Nik looking anything but a decent keeper he was back again in early September and went straight into the team at Derby for what proved to be our first win of the season.

He had signed for a month and in October signed a similar deal but that came to an end last weekend. He had to sign something this week to enable him to play at Rotherham and that he has now done.

It is news that will be popular with the Clarets' fans although we would have all hoped for a deal that would make the goalkeeping situation at Turf Moor more secure. Marlon has always been a crowd favourite and it can only be hoped that something can be sorted out during the next month.
