Jones out of cup tie

At the beginning of the week it was reported that manager Stan Ternent would be contacting Burnley to ask permission to play Jones, and that he would be doing similar to get the all clear to play Derby's Liam Dickinson.

But caretaker boss Gerry Murphy has decided differently and will play neither. He said yesterday: "It would be very unfair to tie Liam Dickinson or Steve Jones to us by playing them in the FA Cup on Saturday and so neither of them will be available for the Port Vale game."

Jones moved to Huddersfield on loan three weeks ago today. He played in their next two games but he missed the next game and has since been used as a substitute twice.

The deal is initially until 25th November but can be extended.
