Jones has hardly featured for the Clarets since the end of the 2006/07 season and his only start since then was the home game against Plymouth last January. One week later he came on as a sub at Coventry and he hasn't featured at all since then although he did go on loan to Crewe at the end of last season but because of injury started just two games.

This season his football has been restricted entirely to the reserves and he's also lost his place in Nigel Worthington's Northern Ireland squad.

His move to Huddersfield is initially until Tuesday 25th November but that could be extended and he boosts a squad that has been hit by injures to Andy Booth, Danny Cadamarteri and Phil Jevons.

Manager repeated last week that Jones was available for loan and said today: "Steve will be joining Huddersfield for a month initially with our best wishes. He goes there with the chance to play some games and we'll take it from there."
