Jones in for Wiley

Last updated : 12 December 2009 By Tony Scholes
This will be Jones' first Premier League game since he refereed the Turf Moor fixture between Burnley and Hull in October. Nothing was said officially but clearly he was demoted after a series of strange decisions that so incensed Hull boss Phil Brown and this is the second time this season following the beach ball episode at the Stadium of Light that helped Sunderland to a 1-0 win over Liverpool.

Since that game he's refereed just three games, two in the Championship and one in League One. In those games he's managed to add another red card to that of Geovanni who was sent off at Turf Moor.

In the QPR v Coventry game he dismissed Coventry's Stephen Wright six minutes from the end of a 2-2 draw at Loftus Road.

He's also taken his yellow card count to 42 in 13 games. Of those, 15 have gone to home team players and 27 to away team players.

As previously reported the assistant referees are Robert Madley (West Yorkshire) and Nigel Bannister (East Yorkshire) and André Marriner (West Midlands) continues as the fourth official.
